Did It Actually Work? is covered in this video.

In this episode of Leadership Live at 805 – Talking Small Business, Andrew Frazier explores an important question for business owners, advisors, and organizations that support entrepreneurs: How do we know whether the support provided actually made the business stronger? Training programs, coaching sessions, technical assistance, capital, and other resources can all be valuable. But participation and completion alone do not necessarily mean transformation occurred. A business owner can attend training, receive advice, complete a program, or gain access to resources—and still struggle to turn that support into measurable improvement. Andrew explains why activity is not the same as progress and why the real measure of success should be what changes in the business after support is provided.

You’ll learn:

• Why completing training does not automatically lead to business transformation.

• The difference between program activities, outputs, and meaningful business outcomes.

• Why knowing what to do is different from actually implementing it.

• How business owners can evaluate whether the support they receive is creating measurable improvement.

• Why advisors should look beyond giving good advice and consider whether recommendations are implemented and producing results.

• How organizations can move beyond measuring participation to measuring stronger businesses.

• Five questions that can help determine whether a business-support intervention actually worked.

Andrew also introduces a practical framework: BASELINE → INTERVENTION → REASSESSMENT → OUTCOMES Before declaring a program or intervention successful, ask: Where was the business when it started? What did it actually need? What intervention was provided? What changed? What does the business need next? Training matters. Coaching matters. Capital matters. But the ultimate goal is not simply more registrations, completed programs, coaching sessions, or entrepreneurs served. The real question is: Did it actually work? Did the business become stronger? Did something improve? Was the support applied? And can we measure the difference?
